path between the computer you are currently using and UTDL
servers based in Austin, Texas. Note: the
test can only monitor your connection to the UT System Digital
Library web server, Texshare and UT System OVID Subscription
servers. In addition to viewing the results, you can then
email the data to UTDL staff and let us know you are having

Why and when to use this test page
In determining why an access problem exists
for users, the staff here examines three potential sources
of trouble:
- hardware and software on our end
- hardware and software on your end
- the path between you and the UTDL servers
Because there are usually many "hops"
between two connected machines on the Internet, problems can
be encountered at any point along the way. The test on this
page is called a traceroute and provides
the staff with information on the Internet connection path
between you and the UTDL servers.
