OVID Databases managed on behalf of UT System:

    UT System
  • BIOSIS
  • MEDLINE
  • PSYCInfo

Problems involving response time, availability, search features or search results may sometimes develop. Staff make every effort to keep these databases available 24 hours a day. However, some of the problems you may encounter while searching OVID databases cannot currently be resolved by the staff in Austin. These are "bugs" in the software programming produced by OVID Technologies, the developer of these electronic products. Below is a list of such problems and the databases they affect. In each of these instances, OVID has been contacted regarding the problem.

Navigator, Opera browsers and the RETURN key

Problem: Navigator and Opera users may notice that if after typing in their search terms they hit the "RETURN" key rather than using their pointing device to select the "SEARCH" button the OVID system will respond by dumping them into an Author Index Search screen rather than returning results. OVID has made note of the problem but given no indication when or if the behavior will be corrected for local load users such as UT Austin.(March 17, 2003)

PSYCINFO WebLink not working

Problem: The ISSN field in PSYCINFO records, which is used to construct links to UT System online catalogs for holdings information, is now annotated to indicate whether the number refers to print or electronic versions of a resource. This annotation is not being filtered properly when using the value in the record field to construct the online catalog URL. This in turn causes the link to fail in most cases. We are currently working on the problem in Austin. (November 11, 2002)
